Youth League Site Coordinator
Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining a positive and safe environment for the Park Districtís sport leagues by monitoring the leaguesí sites and supervisors. This includes ensuring the facilities are safe, clean, opened and closed; monitoring league supervisors to ensure they are properly performing their duties; and communicating Park District rules, regulations and policies to participants, patrons and parents. The Coordinator is also responsible for organizing the response to accidents and incidents. The response will include performing required duties or determining if professional help is required. Coaches, officiates and/or score keeps when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents and participants
  • Must be responsible, outgoing, energetic, and demonstrate excellent judgment and problem solving skills
  • Must possess First Aid, AED and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of being hired
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid IL Drivers License
  • Ability to maintain postive relationships and work as a team player and have excellent judgment and leaadership skills
  • Knowledge and understaing of youth sports is helpful

Hours :
Hours vary by season. Up to 20-25 hours per week. Monday-Friday afternoon & evenings. Satruday 8am-5pm.

Hourly Pay Rate:

$12-$13 per hour

Park Kids Staff Member seasonal position August - June
Responsibilities:
The Park Kids Team Member is responsible for the supervision and safety of all Park Kids after school care program participants. This includes monitoring, interacting, leading and developing a safe and fun environment for kids to enjoy their after school time

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age or High School graduate or comparable work experience
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR or be willing to obtain within 3 months
  • Strong knowledge in the child development area and has a strong desire to work with children
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid Illinois State Drivers License is required

Assistant Preschool Teacher seasonal position September - June

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Preschool Teacher is responsible for the supervision and safety of all preschool participants. This includes monitoring, interacting, leading and developing a safe, educational and fun environment for students.

Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to a childís physical, intellectual, personal, emotional and social development.
  • Childcare staff must be willing to participate in 15 hours of training per year. Assistant teachers help plan a monthly calendar that includes daily activities for students. Assistant teachers will lead activities for children, provide classroom management, and support head teachers with classroom set up.
  • A high school diploma is required, experience working with 3-5 year olds is preferred.
  • Current medical examination, three written character references, verification of past employment, signed statement acknowledging the employee's status as (imandated reporter of child abuse and negleci), fingerprints and background check will be required upon employment.
  • Must be 19 years of age.

Hours:
The class meets Tuesday-Friday. The assistant teacher reports for work at 8:15am. This position will start the week of September 1, 2008.

Sponsorship Coordinator
Responsibilities:
Coordinates the implementation and development of the Districtís sponsorship program for events such as Amazing Afternoons, Bark in Oak Park, Frank Lloyd Wright Races and others. This includes:
- Assisting in securing sponsors
- Acting as the Park District liaison to all sponsors
- Ensuring sponsors receive all benefits of the sponsorship agreement
- Keeping a record of the details for each sponsorship agreement
- Developing a post event report for each sponsor
- Developing a database of past and current sponsors
- Conducting research and develop a list of potential sponsors

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience securing sponsorships for non-profit organizations preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Multi-project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Interpersonal Skills

Hours:
On average the coordinator would work 10 hours per week however this would vary. The busy time for this position would be late summer and early fall in preparation for the Frank Lloyd Wright Races.

Web Maintenance Staff
Responsibilities:
Responsible for completing routine updates and maintenance to the Park Districtís website and intranet and develop new pages as necessary. Information should be current, graphically appealing, and well written to reflect a professional image of the Park District of Oak Park.

Qualifications:

-Advanced knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver
-General knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat
-Written and oral communication skills
-Multi-project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines

-Understanding of park and recreation administration recommended

IT Tech
Responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Superintendent of Business Operations, installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks and peripheral equipment; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to organizational staff; and performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

-High School diploma and. Equivalent to completion of two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field and two years of general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
-Requires the ability to work independently, problem solve and efficiently attend to details.
-Requires good communication skills in oral and written form.
-Possession of a Valid Illinois driverís license and a satisfactory driving record. Must have a working vehicle to operate between building locations.
-First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications preferred, training will be provided.

Figure Skating Instructor seasonal position September - March
Responsibilities:
Responsible for teaching intermediate and advanced figure skating lessons in the Park Districtís Learn to Skate School during the fall and winter seasons. Instructors must encourage a positive, safe and fun learning environment while fostering student development.

Qualifications:
-Must have advanced figure skating and/or figure skating instruction experience.
-Must possess good leadership and communication skills and enjoy teaching children and adults of all ages.
-Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patrons and participants

Responsibilities:

Ice Rink Skate Guard seasonal position September - March
Responsibilities:
Monitors the ice rink and enforces rules during public skate hours and is prepared to perform first aid in the event of an emergency. Also performs basic maintenance tasks.

Softball Field Attendant seasonal position August - November
Responsibilities:
Supervises adult softball games while maintaining some equipment inventory, athletic fields, chalking baselines, picking up around the park and driving a field grooming machine.

Facility Attendant
Responsibilities:

Hours:
Work hours will vary by season. During the school year, hours range from 3 to 9 pm Monday through Friday and may include weekend hours during the day and/or evening and may vary weekly. During the summer months, hours may vary between 9 am and 9 pm and may include weekends. Approximately 10-20 hours per week.

Active Sport Area and Teen Center Attendants
Responsibilities:
This is a seasonal position available from spring through fall. Maintains an inviting, positive, and safe environment at Stevenson Park (including ball fields, playground, community center, basketball courts, and skate park) by effectively communicating Park District rules, regulations and policies to participants, patrons and parents. Attendants are expected to be visible and engaged in daily park activities. Attendants are also responsible for organizing the response to accidents and incidents, including determining if professional assistance is required. Occasionally Attendants will be required to assist the Teen & Adventure Supervisor with special events, programs, or trips for teens at Stevenson Park and other Park District facilities.

Qualifications:
-Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED
-Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patrons and participants
-Must possess First Aid, AED and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of being hired
-Must have the ability to attend Park District of Oak Park Bloodborne Pathogen training before first day of work
-Must have the ability to attend trainings covering conflict resolution, diversity training, and youth-at-risk issues
-Experience working with teens and/or youth-at-risk, especially in a recreation setting, preferred
-Possession of a valid Illinois Driver's License preferred in order to drive and assist with chaperoning occasional teen trips

Hours:
Work hours will vary by season and begin immediately. During the school year, hours range from 3 to 8 pm Monday through Friday and 12 to 8 pm on weekends. During the summer months, hours may vary between 8 am and 8 pm including weekends. Attendants are expected to work 3-4 hour shifts. Occasionally Attendants will be required to work additional hours outside of these times for special events, programs, and rentals.

Acts as a substitute teacher for the District's preschool and early childhood programs

-Sixty semester hours or ninety quarter hours from an accredited college or university

Fitness Instructor
Responsibilities:
Fitness Instructor is a part-time position, responsible for conducting a safe and effective group exercise class(es) for the patrons of the Park District. The position will be responsible for conducting a fun and effective group exercise class including proper warm-up, stretching, cardio, strength training, and cool-down in compliance with District safety rules and procedures. Additional functions may be assigned by the Health & Fitness Supervisor

Qualifications:
-Must have previous education or experience in teaching group exercise classes. Current national certification as a group exercise instructor or personal trainer is required. Current first aid and CPR certification. Must be available to teach early and mid morning classes
