Shaping the Future of Oak Park Parks

In September, 2008, the Park Board of Commissioners approved
a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) which maps out the future
direction of the Park District of Oak Park regarding park
renewal and facility improvements. The CIP provides specific
details, by facility and park, of how existing funds and new
financial resources made possible through the successful passing
of the spring 2005 referendum will be spent through 2013.
As part of this planning effort, master plans are being developed
for each of our parks and facilities. These plans contain
specific details regarding improvements to be made at each
park site or facility. They are a basis for scheduling improvements,
allowing for projects to be accomplished in phases, if necessary,
and are required for most grant applications. Community input
and feedback is sought throughout the development of
each site master plan through community meetings and through
this website which will be updated with current meeting information
and site plan concepts when they become available.
For current information about completed or current site master
plan projects, please select a facility in the left column below.
Several park renovations projects have taken place since the passing of the 2005 Renew Our Parks Referendum. For current information about these capital improvements, please select a facility in the right column below.
The Park District realizes the value and importance of community
input and we welcome your comments. We encourage you to "Help
Shape the Future of Oak Park Parks."
