100th Anniversary in 2012

The Park District of Oak Park is celebrating 100 years in 2012! We're planning for an exciting year filled with some amazing community events and activities. There are currently five major events planned - see details below!

Celebrate the Park District’s Birthday with a gift to the OPRF Food Pantry
Bring a donation for the Oak Park and River Forest Food Pantry to each event and help us aid hundreds of community members! At each Anniversary Event we’ll be accepting donations for the Food Pantry - check the event description to see what we're hoping to get at that event!

Picnic in the Park

SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Scoville Park
• Old fashioned picnic – bring your blanket and picnic basket
• Live music for the whole family all day long
• Giant slide, obstacle course, trackless train

• Baggo tournament with cash prizes

Food Pantry Requested Donation: PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS
(razors, shampoo/conditioner, bar soap, moisturizers, etc)

Fall Fest 2012

Sunday, January 29 from 1-4 PM
Paul Hruby Ice Arena at Ridgeland Common
• Old-fashioned open skate with music provided by special guest Frank Pellico, Chicago Blackhawks organist
• Snow sculpture created by award-winning sculptor Peter Hermann
• FREE photo booth provided by 312Photobooth.com
• 100th Anniversary cupcakes, hot chocolate and more while it lasts!
• Puck Shot Contest and other fun games
• A raffle for awesome prizes including Blackhawks tickets!!!

Only $1 Admission fee per person! Pay at the door.

Food Pantry Requested Donation: CANNED/BOXED MEAL GOODS
(i.e., Rice-a-Roni, mac-n-cheese, ravioli, stews, soup, tuna, chicken, etc)

The Park District has a limited number of rental skates. It is not guaranteed that rental skates will be available if there is high attendance and a large volume of rentals. Skaters are encouraged to bring their own skates if they have them.

Egg Hunt 2012

Saturday, March 31 at Ridgeland Common
• Extra special anniversary prizes
• Entertainment
• 100th Anniversary cupcakes while they last

We have planned an egg-ceptional event for the 100th Anniversary! Ages 3-10 are eligible to attend any of the three INDOOR egg hunts offered this year. This year’s event includes an egg hunt followed by live entertainment featuring Smarty Pants and The Giant Balloon Show!

Egg Hunt Times:

9:00 – 10:00am, 10:15 – 11:15am, and 11:30am – 12:30pm

This is a FREE event but ALL ATTENDEES will need a ticket. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be picked up at the Park District’s Hedges Administrative Center at 218 Madison or at Geppetto’s Toy Box at 730 Lake Street! Questions? Give us a call at (708) 383-0002.
